With the latest release from Avid, users now can access a host of new exciting tools. This version introduces new capabilities for both music and post customers. First previewed at IBC 2024 their AI-powered Speech-to-Text feature enables users to quickly search sessions for speech and lyric information. In this release Avid have partnered with Splice, Non-Lethal Applications, and The Cargo Cult to expand the number of third-party integrations and ARA supported plug-ins. These new features and integrations bring powerful workflow improvements for both Post Production and Music professionals. Below we’ll cover each update a bit more in-depth and outline which version of Pro Tools has the new feature.
Speech-to-Text
(Pro Tools Studio and Ultimate only)
This new feature can be used to accelerate both dialogue editing as well as music production workflows. By utilising an open source, ethically trained AI model to analyse audio files for speech (and lyric) information, which is displayed as text directly in context with each clip as well as being added as metadata to the files themselves. Text will closely follow as clips are edited, and speech data across the session can be searched via the new Transcript window to find specific vocal takes and speed up navigation in busy sessions with lots of media. The transcription can also be exported as a comma-separated values, further improving workflows outside of Pro Tools such as dubbing, subtitling, and lyric sheets.
Splice Samples
(All Pro Tools versions)
Splice, the world’s largest sample library, is now integrated directly into Pro Tools, letting you discover, audition, and drop in high-quality sounds, without ever leaving the DAW. Whether you’re sketching out ideas, building out tracks, or applying final touches, Splice puts the world’s best catalogue of royalty-free loops, one-shots, and FX right at your fingertips. Not only can you now access millions of Splice samples directly in Pro Tools, but you can also Search with Sound. Simply drag in any audio clip from the timeline and Splice AI will instantly find top compatible samples synced to your session’s beat, key, and tempo—no more app switching, no more guesswork. Pro Tools users can create a free Splice account to get over 2,500 free samples.
Reconform faster and more reliably with The Cargo Cult Matchbox 2.0
(Pro Tools Studio and Ultimate only)
Matchbox was always a go-to tool for change management, and The Cargo Cult have made Matchbox 2.0 faster and more reliable for reconforming processes between Pro Tools, Media Composer, and other NLE’s. New Smart-Conform automation executes the reconform on a per-clip basis, enabling Matchbox to carefully move clips and automation around and clean up all the little scraps of “conform shrapnel”—saving the editor hours of tedious cleanup work after every reconform. Matchbox 2.0 also provides a constant side by side comparison of the old and new pictures with changes highlighted in red, letting you easily jump between old and new cuts for reference, and even copy/paste an entire event in perfect sync with the new cut.
Integrated ADR with Non-Lethal Applications Cue Pro
(Pro Tools Studio and Ultimate only)
Non-Lethal Applications Cue Pro delivers tightly-integrated ADR, foreign language dubbing, and foley workflows with Pro Tools, without the need for additional setup or separate project management. Cue Pro overlays directly over the Pro Tools (2025.6 and later) video output, providing instant visual feedback as you create and edit ADR cues. The Cue Pro Connect plug-in seamlessly integrates and saves all Cue Pro project data directly inside the Pro Tools session to simplify handoffs to other engineers or departments.
Pro Tools ARA ecosystem expands with support for Dreamtonics Synthesizer V and Waves Sync Vx
(All Pro Tools versions)
Dreamtonics Synthesizer V lets you generate and sculpt vocal tracks by sketching out melodies, writing lyrics, choosing from a collection of vocals recorded and licensed from real singers, and synthesize custom expressions utilizing AI technology. ARA support enables Synthesizer V to interact directly with the Pro Tools timeline, eliminating the need for real-time playback when composing vocal parts for a more fluid editing and playback process.
Waves Sync Vx lets you unclutter all your vocal tracks in seconds, automatically locking the time and pitch of multiple vocal tracks to your lead performance to save hours of manual editing syncing backing vocals or aligning re-recorded dialogue. With ARA support, you can now use Sync Vx to manage your entire vocal arrangement in Pro Tools without having to roundtrip audio via external apps or Audio Suite plug-ins.
Faster music creation with MIDI Editor enhancements
(All Pro Tools versions)
Pro Tools 2025.6 adds MIDI Operations and Note Labels to the MIDI Editor, making MIDI workflows easier and more intuitive. MIDI Operations have previously only been accessible via the Event Operations window, and integrating these tools into the MIDI Editor improves accessibility when you need them most and helps new users discover them more easily. MIDI Note Labels helps you keep track of how sounds are laid out when programming drums or working with non-traditional instruments. You can now easily rename your piano roll in the MIDI Editor to quickly see what sound is assigned to each note. Whether it’s foley footsteps with different shoe types and surfaces, or a collection of samples and drum hits, it speeds up MIDI Editing with the extra visual information on the piano roll.
