HHB supplies Hawthorns with DiGiCo SD9 console

HHB Communications Ltd. has provided Hawthorns with an SD9 console to complement its stock of DiGiCo digital mixing systems.
With over 25 years in the business, Hawthorns are one of the largest independent technical production suppliers in the UK. Their enviable client list boasts many blue chip companies and corporations, and they continue to work at numerous renowned venues including BAFTA, Ritz Carlton Hotels, Royal Horticultural Halls, NEC and more.

Hawthorns’ Head of Sound Jon Curnew was already convinced by the value of the DiGiCo mixers after successfully using the larger SD8 for the company’s most prestigious events. The compact SD9 seemed the obvious choice for applications such as corporate presentations and parties. HHB supplied the SD9 in a package with additional I/O cards, interface units and a replacement mixer system drive.

Jon Curnew cites the SD9’s comprehensive feature set, flexible architecture and MADI connectivity as the key benefits of the console.  He comments: “We carry over 20 audio mixers in our hire stock from many manufacturers, all suitable for particular types of events. The DiGiCo range offers impressive reliability and sound quality, and we chose the SD9 because it has the same excellently designed user interface and audio processing features (dynamic EQ, stereo channels, flexible routing) as other DiGiCo mixers. It will be used with the DiGiCo Little Red Box interface, so it fits with our existing MADI infrastructure and DiGiCo SD Racks.”

The 48-channel SD9 is a complete, integrated digital mixing system powered by state-of-the-art Stealth Digital Processing that offers ultra-fast mixing and connectivity. A user-friendly 15-inch high-resolution touchscreen puts the controls at the engineer’s fingertips with a clearly display and its lightweight and small-footprint fits multiple applications. The SD9’s MADI ports also offers the ability to record and playback 64 channels from a multitrack recorder.  For additional security, Hawthorn’s SD9 has been specified with dual power supplies.

HHB Sales Manager Andrew Hingley explains: “DiGiCo mixers provide an extremely robust feature seat and offer outstanding value for money. They are also extremely durable, so I am certain that Hawthorns will find their SD9 to be an effective long-term investment that will fit seamlessly into their hire kit and offer powerful mixing capabilities to a wide range of clients.”
