HHB Communications is hosting the world debut of the new RØDE Stereo VideoMic X at IBC 2014 in Hall 8 on Stand 8.D56.
RØDE’s VideoMic range of microphones have become the industry standard for on-camera audio recording with camcorders, DSLR cameras and portable audio recorders. The flagship Stereo VideoMic X (SVMX) provides the highest level of performance of any stereo microphone from RØDE by providing broadcast-quality audio via an acoustically matched pair of true-condenser capsules.
Offering an industry-leading 10-year warranty, broadcasters also have the option of outputting audio with either a 3.5mm stereo output or a balanced signal via mini XLR. These unique features ensure a broadcast-grade output for camera systems and audio recorders in any professional application.
Housed in a lightweight aluminium body, SVMX maintains high levels of resistance to RF interference. The capsule and shoe mounts are precision machined to ensure the tightest possible tolerances, thereby minimising any acoustic resonance.
SVMX’s externally-biased, condenser capsules are independently housed in integrated Rycote Lyre multi-axis shock mounts to provide its sensitive transducers with isolation from bumps or vibration. Superior protection from wind noise, unwanted vibrations, knocks and bumps is also ensured via an outer dome structure that provides physical protection for the sensitive capsules.
Topping off these professional features are level adjustment controls (-10dB or +20dB), a high-pass filter (0/75/150Hz) and a high-frequency boost (+6dB @ 5kHz). The DSLR critical +20dB boost will also combat any high frequency loss experienced with the use of wind protection.
“The Stereo VideoMic X not only raises the bar for on-camera audio, it shatters it,” comments Damien Wilson, RØDE’s Global Marketing & Sales Manager. “When we started the “X” project we had the objective of creating the best of the best and I believe we’ve done just that. The SVMX is the ultimate tool for superlative audio capture in any environment.”
Stereo VideoMic X will be shipping globally in October 2014.
