Equally as at home in simple run-and-gun applications as in complex multi-input, multi-output production setups, the Sound Devices 552 has been designed to withstand the rigours of field production.

The compact, lightweight and power-efficient mixer uses moulded, metallised carbon-fibre top and bottom chassis panels and can be powered by four AA batteries. The unit has five transformer-balanced microphone inputs with expanded gain and headroom. Each input can accept audio sources of various types and levels, and feature built-in limiters, sweepable high-pass filter and pre- or post-fade direct output.

An integrated two-track digital audio-recorder writes Broadcast WAV or mp3 to standard SD or SDHC media at sample rates up to 96kHz.
