Based on the VHD (Variable Harmonic Distortion) circuit from the SSL Duality console, the SSL XLogic Alpha VHD Pre is a four-channel mic preamp. Each channel has switchable mic, line and instrument level inputs with up to 75dB of gain and an optional 20dB pad. The VHD knob engages a blend of second and third harmonic distortion to your source material, taking it from gentle valve-like warmth to gritty transistor-like sound.
