The Sound Devices 633 is a compact field mixer featuring six analogue inputs and an integrated 10-track recorder that features PowerSafe technology. Designed for audio professionals who need a fully-featured portable recorder, the 633 captures audio to SD and CompactFlash memory cards without compromising recording or mixing capability.

The 633’s small, lightweight, compact chassis is made from moulded, metalized carbon fibre and designed to withstand the extremes of field production.

The Sound Devices 633 provides three high-bandwidth mic/ line inputs on XLR connectors (3+3), all with phantom power, high-pass filter, input limiter and variable pan. For complex productions, 633 also offers three additional line-level inputs on TA3 (mini-XLR) connectors. All inputs are assignable to its six output buses, left/right plus Aux 1/2/3/4.

All six inputs and output buses left/right and Aux 1/2 can be recorded to individual tracks. The 633 offers 10-track 24-bit, 48 kHz uncompressed WAV recording (96 kHz and 192 kHz sampling up to six tracks) to SD and CompactFlash memory cards. The two cards can be set independently, recording either identical material for a real-time backup, or combinations of WAV and time code stamped MP3 files.

The Sound Devices 633 offers a unique Quad Power supply with PowerSafe technology, making it possible to operate from any of four power sources, including external DC (12-18 V), two removable 7.2 V L-type lithium ion cells, and six internal AA batteries. The 633 automatically switches from one power supply to the next when power is exhausted or removed. A full day of production can be powered on batteries alone.

The integrated PowerSafe circuitry is activated when all power sources are diminished. PowerSafe keeps the 633 operating for up to 10 seconds and ensures that all file operations are fully closed and the unit gracefully shuts down.

The 633 also provides a high-accuracy time code generator supporting all common rates and modes, in addition to extensive file metadata.

|Additional features include an AES input, two-channel AES3 or AES42, four channels of AES output, easy to navigate controls and interface, and a USB Keyboard connection for quick and easy metadata entry. Input delay is selectable on all six inputs plus output bus delay on all six buses. A user-configurable headphone presets plus a headphone favourite mode for quick source selection is also offered.
