The Royer 122V is a vacuum tube, studio ribbon microphone with a large-ribbon transducer assembly. The 122V has the ability to withstand high SPL, making it able to withstand high SPL applications that classic ribbon mics can’t handle.
With integrated active electronics, the 122V produces an optimum impedance match to the ribbon element at all times. This prevents over damping of the elements and assures consistent microphone performance. SF-24 is also able to drive any drive virtually any preamplifier, even with long cable runs. The R-122V’s vacuum tube electronics utilizes a standard mil spec 5840 vacuum tube, Royer’s proprietary toroidal ribbon matching transformer and a Jensen 1:1 ratio output transformer.

The R-122V’s ribbon element is constructed of low mass, 2.5-micron, pure (99.99 per cent) aluminium. This unique patented offset-ribbon transducer assembly positions the ribbon element towards the front of the microphone body, which allows for higher SPL handling on the front (logo) side and the option of a brighter response when recording lower SPL sound sources on the back side.

The smooth frequency response and phase linearity of the R-122V, coupled with its classic triode-connected vacuum tube circuitry, enable the R-122V to deliver a consistently accurate sonic performance.
