Designed to enable the recording of pianos without the use of microphone stands, the Earthworks PM40 has a telescopic tube that hangs over the piano sides and holds two miniature omnidirectional microphones above the strings. The mics have a frequency response of 9Hz – 40kHz and capture the full sound of the piano with or without the lid open.
