HHB and Scrub host successful UK launch of Pro Tools 11

London’s broadcast, recording and audio post production communities turned out in large numbers as HHB Communications and Scrub, its Soho-based subsidiary specialising in serving the post production industry, hosted the UK launch of Avid’s Pro Tools 11.

Held at the Ray Dolby Theatre in Soho Square, London, the event was hailed as a success by the UK’s biggest Pro Tools users as they experienced first-hand the innovative new features offered by Pro Tools 11 in the state-of-the-art theatre.

Avid UK’s Audio Solution Specialist Simon Sherbourne led an in-depth overview of Pro Tools 11 on the theatre’s class-leading sound and projection systems during three sessions throughout the day. Version 11 software offers even more tools to handle the most demanding sessions, with new features such as a new 64-bit audio engine, advanced metering, offline bounce, a new HD video engine (Media Composer core) and much more. Sherbourne also revealed that a great number of third-party plug-in developers are releasing AAX versions of new and popular plug-ins for Pro Tools 11.

Dolby’s Senior Technical Marketing Manager Mark Pascoe began each session with an introduction to Dolby’s new London HQ followed an immersive demonstration of the Dolby Atmos theatrical replay system.

Award-winning Dubbing Mixer and Sound Designer Mike Aiton had this to say about the event: “Both Pro Tools 11 and Dolby Atmos blew me away – and that takes a lot for a hardened pro. We are potentially entering a great new era for post production sound!”

Avid UK Pro Audio Sales Manager Ben Nemes commented: “The Ray Dolby Theatre was a fantastic venue for the UK launch of Pro Tools 11 and the calibre of attendees was phenomenal. HHB and Scrub executed the event perfectly and we could not have been more pleased with the visitors’ reaction to the amazing new features that Pro Tools 11 has to offer.”

Scrub Head of Sales Ben Scully explains: “Our phones were ringing off the hook when AVID announced Pro Tools 11 during NAB this year, so it was great to give our customers a first look at its new capabilities. New features like faster than real-time offline bounce, enhanced speed and power and the availability of so many AAX Plug-ins will keep Pro Tools as the top choice for audio engineers working to the great demands of broadcast, recording and post production projects. It is truly a new standard in audio production.”

Pro Tools 11 is set for release by the end of Q2.
