HHB NewsFlashMic Grabs The Headlines At World Athletics Championships
IBC 2009, HHB Stand 8.E54: The 12th IAAF World Championships in Athletics took place in Berlin in August and saw competitors from the home nation enjoying particular success. As a consequence, sports journalists from the local Berlin radio station ‘105.5 SPREERADIO’ were particularly busy recording interviews with winning athletes at the Champions Club, a venue in which competitors came together with representatives of top German and international sports, along with sponsors and guests from the fields of business, politics and the media.

A hectic interviewing schedule and the requirement to get the material on the air as soon as possible made the HHB FlashMic the obvious recorder of choice to capture the atmosphere, emotions and stories of medal winners including Nadine Kleinert (Silver Shot Put), Jennifer Öser (Silver Heptathlon), Ralf Bartels (Bronze Shot Put), and many others.

“Our FlashMics deliver a great sound quality and our journalists can handle them with ease, so they can concentrate on the interview,” reports Ralf Richter from Radio Center Berlin GmbH, the organisation in charge of technical support at the Champions Club. “The audio files are copied to our laptops and prepared on site for immediate broadcasting.”

FlashMic combines a studio quality condenser capsule with a broadcast-quality Flash recorder and high-speed USB file transfer to create a robust, easy-to-operate portable recorder with no fiddly plugs and cables. Available in omni and cardioid versions, with and without line inputs for recording press conference feeds, FlashMics are in daily use with broadcasters and news organisations around the world including ABC Radio, Capital Radio, Classic FM, Danish Broadcasting, Radio France, ORF, NDR, NRK, Swiss Radio DRS and the BBC.
