HHB has configured and installed a complete radio studio at the North Sefton City Learning Centre. Based at Ainsdale High School, Southport, the Centre is a resource for local schools and adult education services developed within the ‘Excellence in North Sefton Partnership’, offering impressive ICT and digital-media production facilities.
The contract including system design, equipment supply and full installation service was awarded to HHB following a rigorous tender process. The work involved converting two office/meeting rooms into a fully functioning and acoustically treated radio production facility, equipped with a Sonifex mixer, P Squared radio play-out system, AKA studio furniture and Rode microphones.
“The new radio studio provides an effective resource for students of all ages to develop skills in voice based communication and the creative use of ICT,” commented Jonathon Lowe, Technical Manager at the Centre. “HHB really took the time to understand our needs and were able to provide invaluable assistance at all stages of the project, from audio and IT system configuration, right through to room design and final installation.”
The result is a facility flexible enough to handle everything from a class of school children, to the one-on-one teaching of professional radio presentation skills. During a highly successful opening event at the Centre, the studio was used for a live broadcast on local commercial radio station Dune FM via an ISDN link.
