HHB returns to Musikmesse/Prolight and Sound with an innovative new professional universal DVD/CD player and a ground breaking new dual drive CD recorder.
The UDP-89 universal DVD/CD player combines broadcast-quality audio and video replay, a full complement of video and audio outputs and a massive feature set to create a compact 1U rack mounting player that systems integrators and AV professionals can install with complete confidence.
With a sonic performance rivalling that of high-end audiophile players, the UDP-89 is the only DVD player on the market equipped with balanced stereo and surround sound outputs with a built-in preamp for direct connection to an active 5.1 or stereo speaker system.
The ultimate in digital video quality comes courtesy of an HDCP-compliant HDMI output and superb analogue picture quality is assured by six 14-bit 165MHz video DACs. Both 480p/576p Standard Definition and 720p and 1080i upscaled High Definition are available from the HDMI and component outputs.
Features including professional cueing functions and SACD compatibility, RS232 and touchscreen X-Y coordinate control equip the UDP-89 for use in a wide range of applications and demanding installations in which consumer DVD players simply won’t cut it.
Reinforcing HHB’s position as a leading innovator in CD and DVD technology, the new CDR-882 DualBurn dual drive CD recorder breaks new ground with a DiscSpan mode that overcomes the 80 minute limit of CD recording by extending the recording across multiple discs. DiscSpan allows the user to set overlap and fade in/out durations when switching between discs with Track Ids automatically written to each disc to mark the transition. On playback the CDR-882 uses these Track Ids to provide uninterrupted programme audio. In addition the Track Ids provide precise reference markers when reconstructing the recording in a DAW.
An uncompromising feature set includes DualBurn simultaneous recording to two drives, high speed disc duplication, professional ground-up design using audiophile circuitry for superior sound quality, heavy duty 2U rack mounting chassis, quartz crystal derived internal clock, on-board SRC, full balanced and unbalanced analog and digital I/Os and parallel and RS232 remote control.
Another unique product scoring considerable success for HHB is the FlashMic Digital recording Microphone. Now available in omni and cardioid models, with and without a line input for recording press conference feeds, the FlashMic combines a studio-quality Sennheiser mic capsule with a broadcast-quality Flash recorder to deliver more than 18 hours of recording. Files are transferred via a USB interface with sophisticated control provided by the Flashmic Manager software application supplied as standard. Convenient and easy to use, the FlashMic has quickly become the audio recorder of choice for an impressive user list including the BBC World Service, BSkyB, CNN, Fox News, Al Jazeera, NBC, Classic FM, ORF and Danish Broadcasting.
Commenting at the show, HHB Managing Director Ian Jones says “We’re delighted to be here with our German distribution partners Innoton, with so many ground-breaking HHB products on show. The UDP-89 is the most highly specified DVD/CD player available, providing AV installers with a dependable, professional solution for demanding applications. Features like DiscSpan and DualBurn along with superb sound and build quality surely make the CDR-882 the ultimate CD recorder. And FlashMic is the world’s first digital recording microphone, a concept that has already been embraced by many of the world’s leading broadcasters.”
