LAS VEGAS, April 10, 2000-HHB is launching the CDR80 Silver BULK, the newest addition to its Advanced Media Products range at the NAB Convention, Booth R2360. The new 80-minute CD-R disc is unbranded and supplied in convenient, 50-disc 'cake packs,' making the HHB CDR80 Silver BULK easier to handle and store than conventional, shrink-wrapped discs. Packaged in quantities of 50, five 'cake packs' are supplied in a master carton for a total of 250 discs.
Unlike many other 80-minute CD-R media, the HHB CDR80 Silver BULK fully complies with Orange Book specifications, ensuring compatibility with a wide range of recorders and players. Despite costing the same as HHB's 74-minute CDR74 Silver BULK discs, the new CDR80 Silver BULK delivers a significant increase in performance, in addition to a valuable extra 6 minutes of recording time (total capacity 700Mb). A wide power margin delivers high levels of performance with writers from 1x to 12x speed. Recent tests prove that the HHB CDR80 Silver BULK, with its second-generation Phthalocyanine dye, outperforms other popular CD-R media in critical sunlight fastness and accelerated aging tests, providing evidence for a secure archival life of more than 200 years.
The unbranded surface of the HHB CDR80 Silver BULK disc is ideal for users who wish to add their own text and graphics, using either a felt pen, label or thermal printer.
"Many of our customers have asked us to produce a bulk-packaged, 80-minute disc that they can depend on," comments David Beesley, president of HHB USA. "Not only is the new HHB CDR80 Silver BULK fully Orange Book compliant, but it exceeds the performance of our 74-minute HHB CDR74 Silver BULK disc and costs exactly the same."
